S.H.A.R.T


I released S.H.A.R.T !

I stream game development on twitch and have used small projects like this one to take a break from the norm, experiment a little, and do some fun stuff for Side Project Saturday! As of now, I've spent around 10 days on this project over the course of 2 months.

I'm super proud / happy with this one. Its got split screen, a new event bus system that I had been super excited to try out, and a bunch of other fun mechanics that I wanted to try making.

I think I got the roguelike stuff going quite well. The improvements after every wave seem to make a huge impact (especially the extra cannon).

The playtests and bug fix iterations were fantastic, and working with someone new on voice lines was great!

The music changes every wave, so its kind of a nice psudo reward for winning a wave. 

I grew up in the arcades & loved a game called Tokyo Wars in particular. This was a very similar game, no roguelike mechanics, but tank on tank battles in a city. It released around 95/96 and I'm super impressed by that. It was way ahead of its time.

I'll enjoy adding some more maps to this in future & sprucing it up a bit more. I feel like I've learned a tonne from the event bus system. Adding and removing functionality when its so nicely decoupled is very different to my main project. I really need to refactor some aspects :D
